    Truth is one of the most overrated words, since we devaluated it by manipulating Truth untill it looks like something we love or can accept or want to believe. Its more important who said it than what is actually said. Good ideas only can come from people we like. Thats dangerous.
    You cant handle the truth is said by people who want their truth to be the truth and make your reaction the problem. Always be cardful with people who need to claim their words are true.

    Interesting. I think there’s a pretty big difference between “this is my truth” and something that’s objectively true, though. And I completely agree that people can use “honesty” as a convenient little disguise for being a JERK!

    But now you’ve made me curious…was that last part directed at my post specifically, or are you speaking more generally?

    I prefer honesty, even the weaponized kind which arguably isn’t totally honest, typically. I try to be honest myself, but sometimes my own lack of clarity or fear or complexities of a situation make it difficult to answer “honestly” to a question without a simple answer that I can’t begin to explain, even to myself.

    @infinitesuckles 🫶🏻,

    I think that’s where honesty gets really interesting. Sometimes “I don’t know” may be the most honest answer we have.

    We tend to think we should have a perfectly articulated explanation for why we feel what we feel or want what we want, and sometimes we simply don’t. I can respect uncertainty. It’s pretending to be certain when you’re not that gets messy!

    Lola, i was speaking in general, also in thats last part.

    Exactly what i meant, the difference between personal and objective truth. Nowadays it seems like many people think objective truth is personal. And the difference is sometimes hard to tell with AI and all. AI images used on newssites, where one might expect real pictures. So truth can be manipulated.
    That makes it hard to believe anything for a lot of people. Thats a big loss.

    Thank you for clarifying. And yes, I think that loss of trust may be the bigger problem. We’ve reached a point where even seeing something with our own eyes doesn’t necessarily make it true, which is a pretty unsettling place to be.

    Maybe discernment is becoming every bit as important as honesty. Knowing the truth is one thing. Knowing how to recognize it may be an entirely different skill these days.🩷
