Hi all,
I’m currently having long discussions with my partner about entering into an ANR and she has a lot of concerns and worries. One of which is whether she will be ok lactating as a 50 year old woman heath-wise. and what medical professionals will say if it becomes clear to her that she is lactating.
I was just wondering if people in a similar age range that may have gone through these kind of issues can offer any advice and reassurance?

March 12, 2026 at 11:49 pm #715596I am a 49 year old lactating gal. I have not had any health issues with lactating. It has never been addressed with my doctor. If anything is ever said I plan on just saying I am a milk donor. It is my body and can do what I want with it.

March 13, 2026 at 12:47 pm #715821Also I think she should make an account and join so she can ask directly the questions that she has instead of you relaying info back and forth.

Medically, bone density will be off, you got to provide her with supplements, do your research with her. Her hormones will be off, she will have to have endocrinologist scheduled to check her hormones and be monitored. You should pay that. If you can’t afford it, you should not ask in a first place.
Why isn’t she contacting us on here? Tell her this website exists.
She should be on here, you don’t have to ask for anyone. Women make their own decisions.
March 15, 2026 at 4:41 pm #716649I think this is quite a valid question, I have thought the same.
At about 50 there are breast screenings in the UK, every so many years. When I had my last child, I had to be screened due to an infection, on the scan they said that my breast looked like I had cancer due to all the milk filled ducts. So it will obvious, but I am sure they have seen it all. It’s worth explaining that you are lactating. So they understand that when examining. I don’t believe there are any health issues associated with lactating at 50+March 16, 2026 at 7:52 pm #717214She should do but she won’t because of embarrassment.
March 16, 2026 at 7:53 pm #717215That’s a good shout (RE: milk donor).
March 16, 2026 at 7:57 pm #717219Thanks Shola, this was helpful and good to know. And yes, I suppose they probably have seen and heard it all!
