We all swim in the sea of chronological finitude. i.e. it takes time to *begin* to know another. However, knowing cannot occur apart from revelation. As much as one hides themselves from another, to that degree you will not be understood. Some, so it seems, are quite comfortable in remaining an enigma. Apprehension of what you choose to reveal about yourself grants the stranger to make some meaningful yet nuanced movement toward knowing you. And if some one draws a mistaken understanding we all need to recognize that knowing is progressive. It is a misnomer that we classify ourselves as human beings. There is not a greater misnomer. We are human becomings. We are never static and therefore never able to be exhaustively corralled.
I am posting this because getting to know someone else here on ABF Heaven, we need to give allowance for misunderstanding others. Be positive, not negative in your appraisal of others. Life is a journey and often it is what we make of it. I also think most subscribers here are older and by life’s experiences, mature.
My biggest character fault is that I believe others think as I am and value others as I do. All too often that presumption is proven wrong. Discernment requires time and experience. John D. MacDonald somewhere wrote that we are never the best judges of ourselves. Trust is earned, not given.
