Minor update:
The Add Friend button has been removed from showing in lists of search results. It was unnecessary really, you can use the Add Friend button on the member’s profile page.
Why remove it? …
– It was still visible to “not yet approved” newly registered members. Now it’s gone, there is no way for them to send friends requests to anyone, until they are approved. Much better.
– Because it showed in lists of search results, it was an easy way for “friend spammers” to quickly send dozens of friend requests without even visiting the profile pages. Removing it will discourage & slow them down, they now at least have to visit each profile page.

November 29, 2021 at 12:40 am #68544Ha! Marcus, good to see you still have a sense of humor about things!
The Add Friend slight modification was primarily for the first reason cited above; namely, “not yet approved” new members occasionally used it as a loophole to spam the rest of the site. Now that loophole is closed.
Soon: a further tightening up of anti-spammer measures – some profile fields will be made “non editable”, specifically sex, country, and US state. It’s necessary.
