Thought I would update about the “voice chat” functionality, introduced a couple of months ago.
In case you’re unaware, you can voice-chat with someone if you are “Friends” …you’ll see a phone icon top-right of the messages window. If you’re not Friends, the phone icon will not show.
Does it work ok? Honest answer is … mostly. We set up a testing system a while back to identify issues and the results were… inconclusive. Works alright about 75% of the time. Random devices have random problems, doesn’t seem to be a pattern.
Personally, I’ve used it with maybe 30 different members, mostly from my Android phone. Again, probably a 75% success rate. A couple of users I simply couldn’t connect to, and they were using ipads, so that might be a particular issue. It’s unclear.
So that’s it, really. Works ok … most of the time… except when it doesn’t… 🤣
It’s a delightful feature. Even 75% of the time is better than the days of dial up to the internet when it took hours to connect to even talk by typing!
