Messaging someone overseas

If you message someone from overseas is it just to chat, pen pal style?
If not what do you hope to achieve?

To be honest I travel lots for my work mainly USA and rarely I spoke to people in the area I’m visiting and met for coffee or lunch and definitely with no expectations

I never understood why one can’t chat with people in different geographical locations.And I’m glad that you make a post to ask POV.

For me
1. I love to talk to people, know about them, their culture, POV etc
2. I travel a lot and like to meet like minded people.
3. This platform is not just to find nursing partners but to have a community to make friends with like minded people.

I have seen some people here are just to talk and chat and share pics. It’s their style and until both parties are agreed it’s good for them.

I have! I flew to country and it was honestly a blast! I definitely have just chatted with oversees folks with no intention of meeting, but most of the time it was to meet just for a fun experience and it did come to fruition one time ☺️

It’s mainly for chat and you never know. In exception cases, I have seen overseas long distance relationships comes to reality and one partner moves with other.
As you said, it’s not easy to chat and share ANR experiences and desires with many. At least, this provides a good healthy forum to chat.

If plans and realistic expectations are doable, then it is OK but most of the time it is just a waste of time, and I am not the kind of people who does trips to meet people if there is no great connection. I rather dont waste my time.
