1. QUICK TRANSLATION TABLE
* Ahoy, Matey! ➔ Hey y’all! / Howdy! (A warm greeting to friends)
* Aye, Aye! ➔ Yessir / You betcha (Strong agreement or compliance)
* Avast Ye! ➔ Hold your horses! / Now lookit here (Stop and pay attention)
* Scallywag ➔ Rapscallion / Little rascal (A mischievous person)
* Grog ➔ Sweet tea / Moonshine (The regional drink of choice)
* Bilge rat ➔ Varmint (A low-down, unlikable creature or pest)
* Davy Jones’ Locker ➔ Six feet under (Destined for the grave)
* Three sheets to the wind ➔ Tore up from the floor up (Heavily intoxicated)
1. HOW TO SPEAK “SOUTHERN PIRATE”
* The Dropped “G”: Drop the trailing “g” in verbs. Instead of “plundering and sailing,” use “plunderin’ and sailin’.”
* The Infinite Plural: Use “y’all” or “all y’all” when addressing the entire crew instead of “ye.”
* Drawled Exclamations: Soften a sharp “Arr!” into a slower, drawn-out “Well, arrr, I reckon…”

Of course! I work in healthcare. All of my patients know I’m a joiner so they expect me to have fun! I will talk like a pirate all day. They all asked my why I was dressed but some saw on our company website so they came in dressed up too! The best costume wins a clip in parrot for their shoulder.

Yes…I dress up for a all fun day like this and Christmas in July
Christmas in July? I have not heard about this type of holiday but why not? Also it’s nice to have a celebratory atmosphere and any reason to be jolly at a hospital. I would really want to volunteer at a hospice but worry that it might bring back difficult memories that I have buried deep inside. I pray that I accumulate enough courage to do that one day.
