Casting Call: “90 Day ANR”!!!

The idea has resonated! I think there are a few key reasons.

First, the 90 day disconnection from the world: A lot of us feel like the world is increasingly angry, coarse, hateful and violent. Even if you can avoid the news about war or the latest mass shooting, our vacations are filled with emails demanding our attention 24/7 for this and that “little” task, and so on. The idea of disconnection from the world, and the peace we can hope it may bring us, is indeed a worthy dream!

Next, the “thrown together” aspect: Few are lucky enough to have our pick of partners right next door. And even if we did, our natural tendencies to judge others (e.g. based on looks) can interfere. But if “thrown together” with someone, the choice is simple: accept your partner as-is, and settle down to the nursing, or pull the rip-cord. “Settling” in dating is considered a dirty word; you are supposed to wait for that perfect prince or princess! But deep down, people can understand that settling for a real person, flaws and all, is better than continuing the dysfunctional search for Mr or Miss Perfect.

Then, of course, the ANR: Little needs to be said about this. We are all here because we wish for it. Thrown together with someone with the purpose of getting in months of quality nursing time can be heaven too.

So, could “we” (you!) do it anyway? Need we wait for a director to stage-manage it? No! If you can ignore the societal stigmas of age and looks and money, etc., and overcome the admittedly-significant problems of distance, you can have your very own “90 Day ANR.” 🙂
