You will have noticed I switched the site back from the blue version back to the light brown style.
For various technical reasons, the blue version was causing problems with visibility of messages, menus, etc. Long list.
So for simplicity sake we are back with the original style. If anyone is still seeing blue screens, or messages in pale text on white background etc, then this is probably your browser holding on to the blue version. Log out, clear the browser cache if you know how, close browser, open again, log back in.
If you still are having problems then post comment below, I’m sure some technically minded person can advise you.
June 14, 2020 at 12:22 pm #4680While I’d like a ‘Dark’ mode, I like the current colour. It’s nice and neutral.
June 14, 2020 at 1:00 pm #4681AnonymousInactiveHi Micheal, I’m having issues opening messages or replying to them. I’ve logged out and sign back in but still the same.
Thanks in advance for your help.
June 14, 2020 at 1:11 pm #4682Dreamy,
You should be able to …
– Tap My Profile in the menu
– Tap Messages
– “Tap to open messages”
– Messages should display as black text on white background.Which bit exactly is causing problems?
Did you clear your browser cache?June 14, 2020 at 1:58 pm #4684AnonymousInactiveHi Michael,
I did all that and the message would open but my reply is not registered.
I didn’t clear my cache.
June 14, 2020 at 2:05 pm #4685Dreamy, yes I see.
That’s an on-going “delay” issue with the Messages window, this existed before the colour change.
Check back after a while on that particular message thread, it usually then shows & the message/reply does get sent.June 14, 2020 at 2:28 pm #4686AnonymousInactiveThanks Michael
June 15, 2020 at 12:43 pm #4705I notice the profile icon top right has gone, is this a fault or intended?
June 15, 2020 at 1:12 pm #4706Jack it’s intended. That whole black-bar menu has been removed. That was your My Profile menu, where you could edit profile/view messages/view notifications etc. That has now been replaced with a “My Profile” tab on the main menu, where you have access to all those options.
But I might change it back at some point. With the black bar visible, at least all those Profile options were easily accessible. They are rather hidden, now.
You prefer it the way it was?
June 15, 2020 at 3:22 pm #4710Thanks for the explanation, I did find it easier to just click on the my profile icon and quickly see if there were new messages, friend requests etc. but it’s not a big issue tbh.
June 16, 2020 at 5:40 pm #4731Michael, I see you’ve put back the original black bar top menu for all our “My Profile” menus (in response partly from what Jack B said) & like you (as I told Michael elsewhere, before) Jack I did prefer that original menu (which is current now again), or I thought I did? Because in using the then new “My profile” tab on the main (& the additional notification “bell”) over the last few days, I noticed 2 improvements in the messaging system that seemed to come with that change.
1st when tapping on my messages & then slowly scolding down to look at less recent messages, it was definitely a little less sensitive of accidently tapping on more recent messages before you got to older messages & then having to go back to the message menu & start all over again & you could do that several times (it’s incredibly sensitive you hardly need to touch your screen & that’s back to that sensitivity now!) so that was definitely an improvement.2nd & partly in connection with what I’ve just said; On the original (& now current) blue numbers menu system, if you clicked on a member’s profile that you are, or have been in conversation with (whether they are friends, or not) & you click & want to write them a new private message, that’s exactly what happens, you create a new conversation “thread”. This was always the case too on the original ABF.Org site that this site is based upon.
But on the “Main menu My Profile” system that you introduced the other week Michael, then when you clicked on a member you were already in conversation with & clicked on “private message” on their profile, instead of creating a new conversation thread, you actually went to the conversation you were already having & so could also read what a member had just told you & then writing your reply without having to go to your main messaging menu at all which was much more convenient. Now I do realise in that case that you couldn’t actually create a new thread if you already had a particular conversation thread with a particular member. Maybe that’s useful sometime? I’m not sure.
So Michael I don’t know whether you realised that these other differences existed between the two menu systems & I’m not asking you to change it back, certainly not right now (we’ve had too many changes really in recent weeks I think) but maybe other members could comment on the benefits & drawbacks of each menu system & their experiences between the 2 in the last couple of weeks? 👌
