Question : Is knowing who is on another user’s friends list important to you?
Currently, when you view someone’s profile you can see their Friends tab and thus their list of friends. I am looking at removing this in order to close a small security loophole. So the friends list of other users would be hidden from you.
Any thoughts? Some users might even prefer it if their list of friends is visible only to themself?
Anyway, opinions are welcome below. Thanks.

– Feedback from users shows lots of people would prefer their Friends List to be private, but some don’t.
– Some users find it helpful to be able to see someone’s friends list, helps them gauge the person a bit better etc.
– The minor security issue stemming from friends lists being visible has now been solved by other means.
– So, with that in mind, I am setting things back to the “status quo” for this site ie. friends lists are visible.
– At some point I will add an option for individual users to select if their Friends List is visible to others or not. That should keep everyone happy.This Forum topic will now be closed to new comments.
I don’t think that feature is important. It seems a bit voyeuristic and we’d be fine without it.
I’ll admit to snooping on that tab to get a sense of what the person may be interested in; however, I know that it’s likely a very poor indicator of such.
James: it’s not a serious issue, very minor. Just an annoyance from Admin point of view.
So is it a small security loophole or is it just an annoyance from Admin point of view?
Agree, the listed friends should be private and only for your personal view.

I agree with Grogman and Louisa – the friends list should only be for the profiled person’s private viewing.
I actually find it useful…why not know who your potential friend is friends with? In real life you know that. In real life that gives perspective. We aren’t looking into conversations, just a simple list of friends. I see nothing wrong with it. If the loophole is small, I say leave it as is.
PS I’m a bit of an introvert, and even I don’t mind having people know who I’m friends with.
I agree with “the other tom” maybe make it an option vs a straight yes or no. But if thats not possible, then remove it. No need to invade other people’s privacy. I had actually had to unfriend some people because of my friends list, so now I keep it at a minimum and for short periods of time which is VERY unfortunate.
