I think the block button gets a bad rap.
People treat being blocked like a digital slap in the face. They BLOCKED me. The rejection. The indignation. The sudden need to conduct a full forensic analysis of what you said, what they meant, and precisely when diplomatic relations broke down.
I have a different theory.
Being blocked is a gift.
Someone has decided that whatever you bring to their experience, your opinions, your personality, your face, your excessive use of semicolons, is not for them.
And then, remarkably, they solved their own problem.
Beautiful. I respect the efficiency!
What I don’t understand is disliking someone and then continuing to consume them recreationally. Reading every post. Watching every interaction. Becoming freshly annoyed each day by a person you could make disappear with one click.
At that point, babe, you’re not a hater. You’re a subscriber.😉
So please. Use the button.
You don’t like me? Block me. I irritate you? Block me. Something about my very existence makes your left eye twitch? There’s a button for that. Technology is amazing.
Being on the receiving end can do something interesting to the ego, though. Suddenly we want to know why. We want to clarify. Correct the record. Explain what they misunderstood. Maybe present a small PowerPoint entitled ‘Actually, You Have Me All Wrong’ complete with supporting documentation and a brief Q&A.
But you don’t have to.
Not everyone will understand you correctly. Not everyone who understands you correctly will like you. And, slightly inconvenient but true, not everyone who dislikes you is necessarily wrong about how they feel.
They’re allowed.
Rude, perhaps. But allowed.
That may be the real beauty of the block button.
It ends the audition.
No more explaining. No more trying to be understood by someone who has already decided they’re not interested. No chasing anyone down the street waving documentation.
They made their decision.
You get to go have a snack.
So if someone blocks you, don’t automatically read it as an insult. Read it as information.
Apparently, the two of you are better enjoyed separately.
And maybe that’s the gift. Someone pushed the button and saved both of you the trouble.
That sounds an awful lot like peace to me.
And peace and quiet are WILDLY underrated.
So block away, my friends. Block me if you need to.
Just don’t unblock me three days later to see what I’m doing.😏
Now you’re being nosy!
So tell me! What’s the wildest, pettiest, funniest, or most ridiculous reason you’ve ever blocked someone?
I have a feeling some of you have stories.
October 4, 2026 at 11:37 am #821835I don’t normally believe in using the block button, to me the block button is like a divorce, only on a much less Grand scale, all too easy to give up on a relationship nowadays just get a divorce walk away, I’m more of a talk about work it out kind of person, some of the best people in my life are people who I initially didn’t get along with very well and had differences with but we worked it out and became better friends in the end because of it, now granted there are some people on this planet who just are looking for a fight they have nothing better to do with themselves and to try to irritate someone else to make them feel good about themselves, those kinds of people I have no time for and in this instance the block button will get used, I also find it hilarious the amount of people who are not mature enough, in conversation to come out and say,”hey, that upsets me” or whatever, if you lack the maturity to give someone the chance to respect your boundaries, then you’re not really worth the effort in the first place
October 4, 2026 at 11:43 am #821836I actually like the divorce analogy, although I suspect I’m a little quicker to file the paperwork than you are.😉
I agree with you when there’s an actual relationship at stake. People are complicated, conflict happens, and some of my favorite people weren’t necessarily love at first conversation either.
Where I differ is the idea that everyone deserves a negotiation before you decide they’re not for you. Sometimes there’s nothing to “work out.” Two people just don’t mesh. And I don’t think recognizing that is immature. Sometimes it’s good judgment.
I’m a big believer in communication when there’s something worth preserving. I’m just not convinced every interaction needs to be preserved. 😘
October 4, 2026 at 12:50 pm #821859I’ve been blocked more times than I can count, sometimes deservedly, other times for reasons known only to them. Usually I don’t even realize it until I click their profile. Never messaged them, never knew we had a feud, apparently I missed the entire season finale.
For a second, I wonder, “What did I do? What did I say?” Then it hits me, I give absolutely zero fucks. Mystery unsolved, investigation closed.
But I agree with you. Nobody owes me a spot in their feed, and I don’t need an exit interview. If blocking me makes their day better, I wish them well. I’ll survive the loss of a relationship I didn’t know I had and go have that snack.
October 4, 2026 at 12:53 pm #821861@lolamayi12345 very nice read. Just one thing you’re missing. Music to go with it!
October 4, 2026 at 1:16 pm #821868The relationship you didn’t know you had ending without your knowledge is fantastic.😂 No warning, no closure, no chance to collect your belongings.
But “investigation closed” is exactly it. There are very few mysteries in life improved by obsessively trying to solve why some random person doesn’t like you. Who TF cares?!?
I hope the snack hit the spot. 😉
October 4, 2026 at 1:17 pm #821870October 4, 2026 at 1:27 pm #821874I use the block very freely. For me it doesn’t mean he’s had to have done something wrong, necessarily. It’s just housekeeping sometimes. Way outta my age range for a chat? I’ll reply with a kind message saying so, and then block. It helps me not be messaged 6weeks later and having to say, “Sorry, you’re still not the right person for me.” Certainly I block for other reasons, too.
October 4, 2026 at 1:48 pm #821885I don’t normally block unless it becomes clear that they bring nothing of themselves to the table..but it’s a problem and needs a definite “me” change as it’s my bad….
I have started to use it more often on picture collectors especially because that’s definitely a no-no as I clearly state that if you’re into porn, masturbation, milk fantasies, looking for a cuddle buddy, not wanting to meet or put any effort into getting to know me by looking at my activity page (which gives you a fair idea of my thoughts on many things because I am pretty active on the site) then you’re messaging a lot of ladies like an ad campaign.. sending flyers of a standard message..
October 4, 2026 at 2:25 pm #821903My block list is pretty loooong!!! 😄 I use this site as a dating platform. So if I don’t see a potential for that with someone I block. It’s efficient & weeds out time wasters.
Married men, flaky, aggressive, poor communicator, D-pics, immature, premature marriage proposals, too old/young etc… BLOCKED BLOCKED BLOCKED!!!
October 4, 2026 at 4:54 pm #821990I got blocked for being the wrong John. Another John posted something in the general chat that was very inconsiderate and inappropriate, someone I was chatting with all of a sudden blocked me out of the blue, and once she realized there was more than one John with similar looking avatars, she unblocked me and told me what happened. Once I know how quickly she came to a conclusion about me, I realized that she might not be the right person to meet like I thought she was, and I ended up blocking her.
@mmmmtex please share more about these marriage proposals!!!
@lolamayi12345 what made you think about this? Why did someone block you?October 4, 2026 at 5:15 pm #821994@anroc I’m celibate until marriage so guys seem to preemptively want to marry me to “fix” that problem. What they don’t realize is that it’s not a problem for me. It’s completely intentional.
October 4, 2026 at 6:14 pm #822026I use the block button as a form of housekeeping.
You only get one chance to make a good first impression! One line messages = no effort; you deserve a block with no explanation. You can’t be bothered, well, neither can I!
We’re talking and he becomes too intimate too quickly. I’mma block, as I don’t provide wank fodder.
It’s very rare that I unblock someone and I’m sure that I have also been blocked too, which is fine as it saves us both the bother.Although I am not seeking nsa or anything casual, I rarely block guys who are. I just steer clear.
October 4, 2026 at 8:08 pm #822058@lolamayi12345 what a great read!!
Hear hear!!
I laughed when you said a hater turns into a subscriber when following every step. So true!! Them forgetting the block button has a sunny side: they are not only following every step their target takes, but also discussing every move with their peers. Soaps seem to thrive through that. Succes!! I love your posts!
October 4, 2026 at 9:19 pm #822096I have no story. As far as I know no one has blocked me purposely. I have noticed I’m blocked when attempting to look at the profile of someone I’ve never interacted with.
I do agree a block can be a gift. Ends any possible ambiguity.
