Hello ladies,
For those of you who used domperidone, what side effects did it cause?
My understanding is that you must take about 8 pills a day. Didn’t that cause severe constipation? What other side effects did you experience?
ThanksJanuary 2, 2024 at 2:13 pm #375592I tried it and it disturbed my digestive system. I didn’t like how I felt on them, so I quit taking them.

Inactive@yogisoul yes I would imagine it would since it’s prescribed to prevent diarrhea. And 8 pills a day is a lot!!!!
January 2, 2024 at 2:56 pm #375598I haven’t had any side effects myself

InactiveSeems there is a study on irritable bowel movement (IBS is actually what we call it today) and domperidone done. It is an old study and I don’t have full access to pdf, but the summary says the high fiber diet was very essential in the study, so if you do take the high fiber as supplement and have good diet, you should be fine.
Why is 8 pills necessary? Seems a high dose. I have no idea what dosage was used in this study, I sent it as an example.
For those interested, just google up the topic of the diet and domperidone effects and if it causes side effects. I would only do the gastrointestinal questions. I do have IBS myself, but seriously don’t wanna mess up myself with anything right now. I am very careful with the diet and changing it to just take domperidone again is not in my plans, lol. But anyone that maybe has no IBS can still take the domperidone if you take a lot of fiber and be definitely okay. Make sure you have no genetic disorders before you are taking it, though, like the ones related to cardiovascular health (connective tissue disorders count as one too).
Hope this gives some insight on how to search for answers & good luck you all! I can’t take the domperidone unfortunately, which I found out by lack of data on my particular disorder (not related to IBS) so I am a little jealous for those that can! 🙂Side effects and drugs that can interact with domperidone can be found here for those that wanna start it: (I actually take one class of meds related to sinuses that is on the list)

January 3, 2024 at 2:36 pm #376217Domperidone as a galactagogue is off-label use of that medication. In addition to the above listed issues, there are also some concerns for anyone with potential heart arrythmia and women should check for this before starting on it. Domperidone does not work for everyone, and again, is off-label use.

InactiveI thought Domperdone was illegal in US and Canada now. I have a natural erythema and can’t take it at all.

January 12, 2024 at 4:26 pm #380171About 20 years ago, against my better judgement with the lure of easy milk I took a few domperidone pills.
I felt AWFUL and got severe headaches so quickly stopped.
I’ve heard of women taking more and more and it having a very negative effect on them mentally.
Since it’s a drug, I believe it should be used with great caution, and even then only after consulting with your doctor candidly.
