I would be interested in learning if any women have had success inducing lactation after menopause.
My wife and I enjoyed wet nursing when our children were little, and have enjoyed a 22 year ANR dry. We would like to explore rekindling that enjoyment of wet nursing, but Dr’s have nixed domperidone due to adverse drug interactions and we have been told that inducing at this stage of life is not possible; but it would seem that this community might have different experiences.
Thank you.It is possible. Inducing has nothing to do with ovaries. Inducing lactation, has everything to do with the pituitary gland in the brain. Therefore, making it possible to lactate in men and woman. 🙂.
Domperidone is a very common medication not prescribed in the US. Without it, most won’t be successful without frustration. But it can happen without the dependency of dom. It will just take much longer.
I would recommend rekindling your love for anr and enjoying, that journey together. It’s magical.. no matter if you lactate or not! 🥰
Linden, domperidone does hormonal manipulation and effectively by being a dopamine agonist it reverse activate prolactin.
The good thing is that pure mechanical stimulation (suckling) also does that. It just takes longer.
I do recommend reading “The Art of Lactation” by Jennifer Elisabeth Maiden along with her other pragmatic book “30 Days to Inducing”.
Like Butterfly said, enjoy the journey and detach from the outcome. The milky results will eventually show up.
My own grandmother nursed me when my mom had to back to work. Though I never really understood back then how she also had a milk supply.
I posted years ago year about some pooer countries the granmother breastfeeds the grandchildren to allow the mother return to work. I must see can i find it as it was on my prevoous profile i think
@lindentc It most definitely is possible and you do not need domperidone. Better not to use it. Suckling and manual stimulation will get you there, but it takes steady, regular suckling and stimulation. If she has already nursed your children, then her milk ducts are prepped for this. Enjoy the journey. It’s just a matter of finding the balance of suckling and the rest of life. If it seems long, just remember how frequently and how long a baby suckles….adults often get frustrated and think suckling 1 time a day will do it….it doesn’t. It will take some time but can be done. If you don’t have that kind of time, you at least will get some nice fullness, plus the benefit of the time you share together.
