InactiveAre there any tips how to induce lactation.
I take fenugreek, funnel seeds, Goat Rue, and looking to add more supplements. Is suckling from a partner better than a pump, or should I use a TENS unit and have some one suckle me?May 5, 2023 at 8:53 pm #276596Hi Roxanne
Consider checking out Nurturing Bossom’s blog. She talks about supplements. On Rose’s blog, I have talked about my supplements and inducing.

InactiveI write blogs on inducing. I recommend with a knowledgable inducing partner who knows how to latch. If he says yeah u will suckle your nipples…he might not knows it’s a breast spot not nipples for a proper latch. To me a loving close bond and anr connection is best.
Regards to inducing oneself….add mother’s milk tea at wal mart pharmacy with your fenugreek. Arguably domperidon the best herb. Also google free massage inducing technique called marmet.May 5, 2023 at 10:53 pm #276621Anonymous
InactiveFor me personally, nothing compares to a partner who knows what they’re doing. Fenugreek can actually inhibit breast milk production in some people, it’s an individual thing, so I would be inclined to avoid it unless I knew for certain that it had the desired effect on me.
May 6, 2023 at 1:05 am #276669Domperidone is not an herb. It is a drug that the FDA has not approved. There are some people who have had heart issues with it, so care should be taken if you choose to go that route. You also would have to procure it from a non-American source, and it can be held in customs, etc.
A good partner is your best bet, in many ways.

Conventional wisdom is that fenugreek can inhibit progress before inducing but can increase supply in some after inducing.

InactiveBe weary of fenugreek, it’s different for all.
Listen to these ladies and read their blogs, they know what they talkin’ about!! 💕May 6, 2023 at 1:58 pm #276818Fenugreek is a great milk maker for some but not always the best for greater good. Taking fenugreek too soon can be counterproductive. I suggest trying fenugreek once you’ve established a supply then you can determine the pros and cons. Also some blends have fenugreek mixed in, read the ingredients.
A partner is great but many of us have induced without a partner. Don’t feel pressure to nurse for the sake of induction. Create a pumping routine that fits your lifestyle, couple it with supplements/meds/herbs (whatever you choose) and increased fluid intake.
May 6, 2023 at 5:08 pm #276879Fenugreek is meant to be used AFTER inducing. It is a waist of time and money to take fenugreek if you do not have a milk supply. Fenugreak is an herb that increases supply. Without milk, it can actually have a negative affect and delay production. If taken. It can also drop your blood sugars. This is an herb that NEEDS monitoring.
A Tens unit can help when you can not pump.
Stimulation is key.
Goats run paired with alphalfa works wonders but if you have an auto immunity or on blood pressure medications, it is not recommended.
Please please please read up on the herbs BEFORE you buy them. They can actually do more harm. Then good.
A partner is always helpful as long as they have a good latch.
Good luck and have fun.
