Exactly. And apparently when women themselves say, “Actually, we don’t need you extrapolating what women need from one woman’s experience,” we’re muddled, frantic, upset, attacking, or simply haven’t understood the proposal. 🙄
At some point the irony becomes almost too perfect.
Peter is so determined to advocate for women’s voices that he keeps correcting the women who use theirs.

Now that you finally understand my proposal you can tell me exactly and succinctly which parts of it (if any) you actually disagree with.
Peter, I understood you the first time.
You just seem unable to process the possibility that I can fully understand your argument and still think part of it is bullshit.
So far you’ve called me incoherent, upset, attacking, muddled and frantic—and now you’ve landed on “finally understands.”
That’s a remarkable amount of condescension from a man whose entire post is supposedly about empowering women.
I’ve explained my disagreement clearly enough for everyone else in this thread to understand it. I’m no longer interested in auditioning for your approval of my comprehension.
At this point, Peter, I don’t think you need to worry quite so much about why women leave.
As you’ve already conceded you didn’t initially realise my proposal is built upon the extension of an already existing rule, it’s hardly credible for you to claim that your objections prior to that realisation are in any way sound.
I’m giving you the opportunity to revise your challenge to take into account your more complete and cogent understanding of what my proposal is.
And yet you refuse. Maybe your only real objection to my proposal is that a man made it? If so, state it.

Here’s what I find fascinating. You started this thread expressing concern about women feeling uncomfortable and leaving this community. Yet when a woman challenges your reasoning, you spend hours belittling her intelligence, misrepresenting her position, and demanding she explain herself to your satisfaction.
Perhaps the problem isn’t that women don’t understand you, Peter. Perhaps it’s that you cannot tolerate a woman understanding you perfectly well and still telling you you’re wrong.
I’m done defending myself against accusations you invent every time your previous argument fails.
I don’t need you to acknowledge my point for it to be valid, and I certainly don’t need your permission to stop engaging.
You wanted feedback. You got it. What you apparently wanted was submission.
And if you’re genuinely interested in understanding why women leave this site, you might start by examining how you treat the ones who dare to speak up.

From midway though our exchange:

I confirmed it was and went on to further clarify for you that in giving members control over when that existing restriction ends –
“the site lets its new female members know of the likely consequences of their lifting that restriction prematurely (eg, before a membership is no longer considered to be ’new’) so that they can make an informed decision.”
That amounts to the sum of my proposal. Instead of repeatedly grandstanding the offence you claim to suffer from me I’m inviting you state which part of that proposal you are challenging – something you couldn’t credibly do prior to your above quoted understanding of it.
Oh Peter you aren’t giving anyone the opportunity to do anything. We are taking the opportunity to respond to this forum topic. Your feelings of animosity towards Lola are evident. Anyway this seems like a topic of mansplaining to the knowledgeable. Just let the ladies work it out themselves. Later they may have questions and you could submit worthwhile suggestions.
Btw @lolamayi12345 likes men just fine.😉😘Thanks Grogman. I don’t actually pigeonhole anyone. I genuinely want my proposal challenged – by male or female members – to road-test its viability. Lola had a go at doing so, failed and resorted to playing the victim card instead. Good for her for the challenge, but she could have just conceded that it’s actually a sound proposal instead of trying to turn the exchange into something else.
In the meantime, I’m still keen to receive any feedback from members 🙂

I also think there is plenty of women in the UK for you to charm down.
Finally, yeah some of those guys that get no action, no personality, and no contribution to this place are wrecking it for the rest of us.

Thanks Mr French. It’s a very simple request too – when taken at face value (albeit, some members find that very difficult to do).
If implemented, I believe it would substantially improve user experience of the site for females and males alike. Let’s hope Admin gives it some serious consideration.
