On 31st March I will be doing another “clean-up” of the Private Messages database, it grows very quickly since several thousand internal PMs get sent between members each day. Currently there are approaching 500,000 …this needs to be reduced, most of these are several months old. The system starts to chug-chug once it gets overloaded like this. Yesterday I believe there were several hours when PMs were not getting through, this is clearly a serious issue.
So, any message-threads which began earlier than Jan 1st 2021 will be deleted. If the first message in a thread was sent, say, on Dec 31st, then the entire thread will be deleted. This is an automated process, I can’t read any individual messages, one button press and everything beyond a certain date is removed. So if you are having on-going conversations stretching back before January 1st then it’s a good idea to start a new thread.
This deletion will happen in a few weeks on March 31st, I will give plenty of warning in the days beforehand.
