Hello, fellow ABFHers. As I am making changes in my life, I’ve scheduled a profile photo session with a photographer (my aim with a camera is terrible.) I intend to use the resulting shots for social media and dating profiles. I’ll have the opportunity to be photographed in three different outfits. One will be my work ensemble: tan pants, pink button-down shirt, and navy-blue jacket. I’m seeking advise for the other two ensembles. Thank you.
My own photos are in desperate need of a refresh so feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt.
I’d suggest the most polished version of your day to day look, whatever that may be. Even if you’re just a jeans and t-shirt guy, fit should be on point, immaculately clean, and wrinkle free.
If there’s an article of clothing or outfit that is often complimented, wear that. For me, it’s my favorite quilted denim jacket or my glasses.
If you’re an athlete and it shows, I don’t see a problem with your most flattering athletic wear but probably avoid things like baggy basketball shorts. But in this case, I’d say it’d be better to show you in action (not just in the gym though).
I also tend to avoid logos or graphics on my clothing. I’m not sure if that’s sound advice or just my personal preference.
I was going to suggest the opposite—
Wear something totally casual. Comfy. Without being a slob of course. Just the cozy you that you’re comfortable showing up with.Philip
You are such a kind soul who has many sides to you. Choose 3 different outfits that showcase different sides of you. If you’re a suit and tie guy, wear one. If you’re a jeans and button down shirt, wear one, if you are a collar and golf shorts wear that. I personally like to see the different versions of a person. I’m with NB about a man in jeans , just hopefully he doesn’t expect the same because I can’t remember what decade I last wore them. 😂🤣Hey Philip,
Absolutely love that you’re doing this! I agree with the suggestions of showing you as you are in different ways. The business ensemble is fab because that’s your work life, then I think you should wear whatever reflects you in the rest of life – if it’s jeans and a hoodie then that’s what you should wear.
You need to feel comfortable and yourself in your clothes, to allow your inner self to shine through.
