My fellow male sucklers,
Have any of those who have been in daily ABF relationships before ever gained weight from breastfeeding as an adult?
A long time friend of mine said her father used to drink the excess breast milk from the refrigerator every day. She said he told her that in the first year of her life, he drank so much he gained 40 lbs.
This doesn’t strike me as true, but I haven’t been in an ABF relationship long enough to find out. Have any of you experienced that?

Breast milk, like any food, can cause weight gain. 40 pounds in a year (if my math is correct) is about 17oz a day, which is certainly possible but sounds like a little more than the “excess from the refrigerator.”

June 22, 2024 at 11:59 pm #449094She didn’t know how much her mother produces, but my friend told me that when she breastfed her kids, her milk was 2/3 “cream” as she called it.
Perhaps her mother was producing milk of the same ratio of “cream.”

Weight gain also varies from person to person, based on how they metabolize it.
Breast milk has 11g of fat and 2.5g of protein per cup.

June 23, 2024 at 6:41 pm #449416Two thoughts:
a) 40 seems like…a lot. Though I guess it’s possible if he was sedentary to begin with and there was *a lot* of leftover milk.
b) is that not kind of an odd conversation for a father & daughter to have? Ehhh, maybe that’s just me.
