I went to the garden early in the morning to pluck flowers. The garden was sparkling in the morning sun. The young flowers were cutely playing in their mothers’ laps.

    Then –

Standing near a flowering plant, I was about to pluck a flower, when all the flowers raised a piteous wail: “Would you take our life?” they asked me tearfully.

    – And before my mind’s eye, flashed this poem called Lament of the flowers.

In the meantime, a kind of jasmine, said to me in a soft voice:

During our short span of life, we decorate our mother – the creeper – that bore and cherished us.

Swinging in her arms with gay abandon we play, and when the end comes, we happily fade away.

Why do you come in the way of our free life? What did we do to you?

We honor the air and spread our perfume in the air, give a feast of tasty honey to bees that visit us, we give comfort and joy to your eyes…

Wait! we are happy and free, do not be selfish and pluck us. Do not tear away a child from its parent…

In the meantime, a young rose, making its face red in anger, said to me:

You strangle flowers by tightening a thread around us. You pierce our hearts with needle and string, to adorn your fancy braids – alas! your women lack mercy.

You are supposed to be a kind and considerate race, but –

Our priceless, fragrant, beautiful and innocent life is sacrificed and destroyed for you, and at the end of the day, we spend our youth at your service and then you sweep our withered selves with a broom and throw us away.

Does your human race have any morality whatsoever?

    Oh human being –
You are born in the land of the Buddha, then why has natural love died within you?

Oh, murderer of beauty…your birth as a human being is stained forever.

In this way when the flowers chided me, I could not pluck any flowers.

Not knowing what to do, I came back with empty hands with just this heartfelt poem, and request you, to be kind to me and forgive me for returning empty handed. 🙏❤️💕

    My pleasure.

Beauty is everywhere we just need to spend a few moments everyday to relive it within us and ignite our imagination and creative power.

When we make this a permanent state of be-ing then that’s bliss. 🌸💕❤️🌺
