Hello Everyone
Do any of you have experience with induction by suckling only? No meds or supplements.
If yes, how many times a day did you have to do it? And how long did it take?December 30, 2023 at 3:44 am #374140Experience with pumping only. No meds or supplements. I have nursed previously, years ago, so breasts were primed and ready. Breastfeeding always easy for me. Pumping alone was successful. I did 20-25 minutes per session 2 or 3 times a day. Started with 2 times, then upped to 3 times. Then 4-5 times per day for final push. I used a powerful pump however, and laktek flanges which simulate a baby’s suckle. Would never work with those hard plastic flanges that come with pumps. Well worth it to use the flexible laktek flanges.
Time-wise — I had full breasts and clear fluid within 6 weeks, but had nursed a child previously. Another 3-4 weeks or so with increased pumpings for final push. Nursing would be more effective and faster. Mouths were built for this. HOWEVER, every body is different. Not all women are able to lactate even if they desire so. One of my nephew’s wife desperately wanted to nurse her baby, but even with the natural hormonal changes for pregnancy and birth, she was never successfully able to provide enough for the baby ….she could not successfully breastfeed. Every body is different.
If your body is like this, accept it. Enjoy the process, because the process is what’s important, not the milk. The process of bonding, sharing, nurturing each other is far more important than a few drops of milk.

InactiveThank you for your reply. We definitely enjoy the process but I think we will both enjoy it more if he were to taste my milk in his mouth even if it’s only a few drops.

InactiveIt’s not an exact science. The human body is a complex thing, comprised of delicately balanced systems that all work alongside each other to do many amazing things, not least lactation. Try to relax and enjoy it without focusing on every minute detail.
