I just started my journey to get my milk flowing. It has been 20 years. I’m pumping regularly, and manually stimulating when I cannot pump. My goal isevery 2 hours, but doesn’t always happen.
I understand that some soreness is normal at the beginning, but can anyone tell me how much room there should be in the flange? I’m thinking it should fit a little tighter than it is. Not a lot of my areola is drawn in, but should there be any? Should my nipple essentially fill the diameter of the tube by the end of the 20 minutes?
Thanks all!
Xo
My post should have said milk flowing **again**
Generally, you will want as tight of a seal around the areola as possible. Less air being drawn in, the better. As you pump more, your nipple will most likely grow in thickness and length. Therefore, more nipple will fill the tube.
Feel free to message me if you like. Good luck!!
Legendairy Milk’s website has a GREAT FAQ for pumping. I learned my flange was too small and it tells you how and when to measure for the best fit! I was able to buy new ones and went from nothing to drops in a matter of days
Play Time- oh wow, thank you!!! Headed there now. Thank you.
