    I seem to remember that there was a study to see how the taste of breast milk would help with infants slow to latch. Now I am going back a few years but I remember garlic was one of the things that babies really seemed to love and it increased nursing.

    It would make sense that it would help in other areas of nursing.

    Thanks ladies for your kind responses, please use garlic as I have outlined in the few posts above and let me know if you have any questions. I usually had the roasted garlic during the day and observed changes the morning after.

    Also, just to clarify because one very bright and curious gentleman has asked me about this, I am not doing this to get bigger but to test out something that has been passed down through generations as a lactation ritual for nursing moms.

    When I joined this site, some of the ladies on here have asked me if I knew of any such things and at that time I didn’t so couldn’t help but recently I was able to ask around as one of my distant family members had given birth (asked discreetly of course). So I decided to share this with you all and see if anything comes of it. But of course like Madam Curie, I tested it on myself first, because I am first of all a crusader for Science and then of course I thought what if I am like a bad sample and not representative of the average woman 👩?!?!! Then a thought occurred….who better to judge a dud or a gem than the ladies of ABFH!?!!

    Here is a review of my Day 1 on garlic update:

    1. I consumed 6 cloves of garlic along with some shrimp (YUMMMMY) around 11:30 am on Friday.
    2. By half past noon, I was feeling tingling in my breasts (like stuff is happening… not painful but a curious tingling)
    3. By 1:30 pm when I was pumping (I was running late that day), I felt the biggest ever let down while pumping… this has never happened to me before – always with a suckler – never the pump. Not only that, milk was collected by my PJ’s Comfort pump and deposited at the bottom of the bottle. I normally have to hand express post pumping to get anything out.
    4. I wasn’t able to measure volume on Friday as I was constantly sampling the milk drops to detect changes in taste. Milk felt less sweet in the 3 hours post consuming garlic.
    5. The day before I collectively made 0.3 mL from both breasts for the entire day.

    This morning I woke up with my breasts feeling fuller than normal so I opted to pump at 7am instead of 8 am. I used my Elvie. I did not experience the let down that I did yesterday. However, as I was hand expressing afterwards, I noticed more milk in the container than I am used to seeing. It was 0.5 mL. I have nearly doubled my volume!

    The day is still young with many pump sessions to go and more garlic to eat.

    Thanks Rose and Jessica, I greatly appreciate the help, should have seen my garlic stash after I went grocery shopping today. The girl checking me out at the counter gave me a funny look 👀 do you think she knows the secret 🤫?!??!??

    Some ladies have asked me about garlic capsules, tbh I don’t know but I think they are worth trying, if you can’t do the original. It would be nice to use one breast as placebo control and one as experimental 🤔 group but it seems like we can’t do that, unless someone has a twin hiding somewhere 🤔???

    Hello Ann,

    Great start, just a small suggestion, if the garlic is indeed burning your tongue, then it’s still raw. You might consider adding more oil to whole cloves, roasting on a low to medium flame longer or chopping it into pieces.

    I find that roasting the whole clove, on a very low flame, well separated on a medium to large pan, works well to cut the pungency of garlic.

    Also the center of it, where the light sprout 🌱 lives, is where I think the pungency resides. I am not completely sure about that though. I hope this helps.

    Ladies, for me, eating a bulb of garlic once, last about 5 days to a week, the fluid doesn’t subside substantially and comes back very quickly after the next exposure.

    I ate roasted garlic Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Not on Monday. Yesterday, I ate pickled garlic.

    The pickled garlic while tasty did not have the same effect on me. Either the exposure to brine altered the chemical properties or the heat from roasting activates different ones.

    I have been holding steady at 0.7 mL since first using the garlic. I feel the half life of garlic for me is much shorter than Spicy’s. I am feeling less “full” today.

    Hi JB,

    I have not been on any other supplements as such except for multivitamins. In addition, I take some bitter melon (Himalaya Herbs), ashwaganda (Him Herb) and turmeric.
