Sometimes, the most difficult thing about being different is not the experience itself, but the fear of being misunderstood by people who have never tried to understand.
I’m tired of being judged ….
I’ve been reflecting on how quickly society can judge something simply because it falls outside what we consider normal.
Adult breastfeeding is one of those subjects that can provoke strong reactions, assumptions, and sometimes ridicule. Yet, behind every personal experience, there are individuals with their own emotions, needs, relationships, and reasons for exploring a connection that others might not immediately understand.
For some, it may be about comfort. For others, intimacy, nurturing, trust, or a sense of emotional connection. Human relationships are rarely as simple as the labels we attach to them, and it seems unfair to assume we understand someone’s experience without taking the time to listen.
Of course, we all have our own boundaries, beliefs, and perspectives. Nobody has to understand or participate in something simply because another person finds meaning in it. But perhaps there is a difference between deciding something isn’t for us and deciding that it is wrong for everyone else.
What concerns me most is the fear of judgement that can prevent people from speaking honestly about their experiences. When people feel they must hide aspects of themselves to avoid ridicule, we lose opportunities for meaningful conversations about human connection, emotional wellbeing, and acceptance.
Perhaps real maturity is not about having an opinion on everything, but recognising that our own experiences do not give us the full picture of someone else’s life.
We don’t have to understand everything to treat people with compassion. We simply have to be willing to listen before we judge.
Do you think society is becoming more accepting of unconventional forms of intimacy and nurturing, or are we still too quick to judge what we don’t understand?

The world for sure would be much better when people had better understanding of each other. I agree.
Also: its interesting to know different opinions of different people. Keeps the mind going. So I wouldn’t discourage people to voice their opinion. An opinion is not a judgment per se.Maybe its important it goes both ways? Not only asking others not to judge but asking oneself: did I?
As discussed in another forumtopic: ask a question before judging. Ask somebody te explain. You can always judge later its a jugdgement, an attack or a languageproblem later if you need to judge.
Openmindedness and respect are key.October 29, 2026 at 1:35 pm #836779Absolutely. Understanding begins with curiosity, not judgement. Ask before assuming, listen before reacting, and remember that an opinion is an invitation to understand, not a reason to attack. Respect must work both ways.
