A short story I wrote.
I hear your key in the door as I finish tidying up, I knew that today was gonna be a long day for you. As you throw your keys and work bag on the table by the door the look on your face is one of pure exhaustion. That look lets me know what you need. I help you with your coat and it’s easy to see that you are on the verge of engorgement. We go to our bedroom and you go take a shower. I quickly order from the tai restaurant you like so much. I dim the lights and put on the playlist you specifically made for nursing, a slow guitar solo mixed with the sounds of a waterfall plays as I fill the diffuser with lavender and other oils. I set up our bed and then get the massage oils, it’s my night to take care of you. I hear the door and quickly get our food. When I come back you are sitting on our bed in your pink fluffy bath robe. I offer you the food and you shake your head. You beckon me to come as you put one of the pillows in your lap. I crawl in and gently take your nipple in my mouth. You flinch and I try and unlatch but you hold my head tight. Your milk starts to let down and you start to unwind as oxytocin takes over. Eventually your breast empties and we reposition so I can switch sides. As I continue to nurse you continue to relax. I can hear your stomach and I reach for the fork and offer to feed you, to my satisfaction you oblige. Both of us getting what we need. By the time you’re done eating the breast I’m nursing on is empty. I unlatch and try to get up but you stop me. You pull the covers back and lay down. I quickly get undressed and lay beside you. I notice that my pillow is missing and you offer your breasts as a replacement. As I reposition a huge smile creeps across your face. I look at you your eyes grow heavy and you fall asleep with a look of true contentment. Your heartbeat is my lullaby. Subconsciously we know that we will awake in a couple hours to nurse. -
