My exploration of history, anthropology, and sacred sexuality has deepened, transforming not just my research but also my personal journey as a willing “guinea pig.” Last summer, my studies into ancient resurrection rites led me back to the dawn of civilization, to the rituals of ancient Sumer and Egypt. Here, I uncovered a fascinating practice: the sacred act of drinking from the breast of a priestess, who embodied the goddess. This ritual, part of the sacred sovereignty rites, symbolized the divine marriage of opposites—known as the hieros gamos.
This union wasn’t merely physical but a profound merging of the sun (king) and moon (priestess), a cosmic dance of spiritual alchemy. Through this practice also known as the sacred marriage of the sun and moon, a king was anointed with the authority to rule, ensuring the fertility of the land, the prosperity of its people, and the harmony of nature. Even the word “orgasm” traces back to an ancient meaning—“a fertile plot of land”—a powerful connection between women’s sacred anatomy and the Earth itself, the land long seen as feminine and part of the goddess’s realm like caves (the goddess’s womb), and cave entrances (the entrance to the womb or vulva, also Yoni).
Wow, this is an amazing article. So well researched and so dynamic. I love how you connected all the dots. I’m just blown away.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for the comment and for reading! My work is quite unique as I work through a multi-disciplinal approach and also with archetypal psychology. As discussed, ABF was once a universal practice so for me, it is archetypal, which is why some of us are drawn to it as we “remember” in some way that this was once a sacred part of humanity, not a fetish or a taboo, and which also greatly contributed to our health. Female cancers are on the rise and like some scholars, I would agree that there is also a link with the decline in breast-feeding as well as the way we live our relationships today (mostly surface level and looking more for instant gratification instead of deep connection and long-lasting bond). It’s why I am trying to bring back the old ways, like I mention in my first blog post video (if you haven’t watched, please do). Thanks again!
I completely agree with you Elayne. Our changing lifestyle is dragging away from nature and labeling as tabbooo for lot of the natural acts.. !!!!
Thanks so much for reading and your response. It’s why I felt I had to do a blog on all of this as my current work is about bringing back the old ways that can make our modern lives better, through history but also spirituality. If you think about it who defines what is a taboo? Society, usually State + Church which is a really bad combination, and together for centuries they were aligned to control the masses. It is complete lunacy that this practice as well as nursing babies (which is still frowned upon in may places especially in public) is seen as taboo or a kink/fetish while porn for example is seen as normal, which is tolerated by society far more than ABF and is a mode of distraction like gaming, drinking, drugs and so forth to keep us busy and not allow us to think. ABF/ANR is a practice akin to Tantra which involves mindfulness, being wholly present in the moment with that person, which also allows downtime from life’s craziness and “distractions” and can be seen even as meditative. Seems to me anything that involves getting away from “distractions” is taboo or “evil”!
You described something that is very potent and powerful. The changes one notices are just the beginning of this journey. What do you think about the fact that many cultures have ultimately likened this to an internal joining? I think it’s rare to find a great connection that fulfills and the quest to do so has its ups and downs especially when dealing with the cravings due to inducing. So turning inwards to find that fulfillment is the journey for some.
Thanks so much Ms. Spicy! I will confess it was a powerful experience and made me understand also why so many men fear women and perhaps that fear lies at the root of why women were turned into second-class citizens that had to be controlled throughout history. I would agree based on my solo experience that it has been a spiritual journey and one of great growth as while I was engaged in this my creativity had never been so limitless nor my intuition so sharp. I think that is what I miss the most so I would definitely agree with that statement and in many ways consider it even like a reunification of a fragmented part of our soul for women.
Re internal joining, this was part of the sacred sovereignty rituals of the marriage of the sun and moon also known as Hieros Gamos where sacred sex leads to spiritual alchemy: a union of opposite where through love (and not really sex) we become whole by integrating these opposites within us: masculine & feminine, light and dark (shadow aspect as in Jung), divine and mundane, conscious and subconscious. This union is what Carl Jung called Individuation (becoming whole) which is in essence resurrection or Anthropos in the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene.
I also agree it is rare to find a great connection which really should be the main priority of anyone wanting to truly have a satisfying and fulfilling relationship, with or without ABF/ANR. People want instant gratification and surface level interactions but lactation is the opposite of that, even if solo, it will demand great sacrifices, patience and if one takes it seriously, will affect the way you perceive the world but also your connection with your higher self. I can understand why now it was a key practice of priestesses.
Reading through some of this was some very insightful research. It is impressive that you were able to naturally increase your breast size from a B Cup to an E cup by all natural means and no surgery. I found it also interesting that you were able to find a use for breast milk as a natural moisturizer. One thing you mentioned is that using the breast pump and inducing lactation affected your cycles. In your research would this make a woman more or less fertile if she wished to get pregnant?
Thanks Mr Grey and happy New Year to you! I never set out to increase my breast size but I thought of mentioning it as many women would be happy to know and it is a natural solution. I took goats rue as a supplement to help induce lactation together with moringa, and goats rue on top helps build breast tissue, so it wasn’t just the pump, also years of breast massage I would add and perhaps that I have retained a little of my pregnancy breast size. The moisturiser idea came after coming across research where it was used for sensitive skin, nappy rash and even cracked nipples due to breast pumping / feeding. I had bought a balm for that and was worried as it takes some getting used to and my nipples were a little sore at first. It happened by chance when one day I realised using the breast pump on taking it off that it had collected about a teaspoon of milk and when it splashed my nipples/breasts on removing the pump, I remembered the article and thought of consciously applying it as a moisturiser twice a day. It really worked!
Re fertility, periods and lactating, I was breast pumping 5 times a day daily and my periods were reduced/lighter and less painful which was great. If I had continued or increased frequency to the point of also expressing all the milk out, eventually I could have experienced a loss of periods and if I kept it up, mimicking almost a real breastfeeding situation in terms of frequency ad quantity yes, it would have acted as a birth control method. In fact, this is why in history royals had wet nurses as the job of a royal spouse was to procreate as much as she could so that there would be surviving heirs, but if she was nursing, she would struggle to conceive, so yes. Many studies prove this, but it isn’t 100% unless your period is gone and you are fully lactating / nursing as much as you would with a child full-time which is why when you begin to decrease the frequency/quantity an additional contraceptive method is a must.
Thank you so much for sharing your research and personal journey. It takes courage to share such personal details!
Thank you for appreciating my work and writing; indeed it wasn’t easy to share as I am not that comfortable with my body but wanted to be honest and prove a point. I hope to encourage other women to try this, always under medical supervision, as I feel it is a game-changer, especially if it decrease cancer risk, in addition to all the other benefits!
Hi just a quick note to thank you for sharing. I love your broad holistic perspective with every colour of science to mythology. It takes every colour to make pure light.
Hi there Rocco well thank you for checking this out and reading me, also for the kind words, much appreciated. It does take a lot 😉 especially when your whole life has been about darkness.
Amazingly beautiful exposing of your breasts there Elayne
Wow, this was absolutely mesmerizing to read! The way you connect ancient history, sacred femininity, and personal experience is just incredible. It’s so refreshing to see lactation explored beyond the usual narratives, embracing its power, sensuality, and deep-rooted history. Your journey is inspiring, and your insights are truly eye-opening. Thank you Elayne for sharing something so raw, transformative, and thought-provoking! 🙏😊
Thank you so much Nate! This is really lovely to read as I am quite shy, prior to being on this site I had never shared photos or even anything remotely that intimate even with partners but I have fully connected with myself in the last few years and with the goddess within that lives in all women so that made me realise this was needed.
My lifestyle journey isn’t for everyone but my research has shown me that this is a practice that only for health reasons alone, it should be embraced by all women and men as it was once was for it was part of the sacred rituals of healing, regeneration and resurrection. Do check out my patreon too (I left a blog post on this in the forum)
fascinating reading, Elayne. and so brilliantly presented, entwining multiple dimensions of recorded history, religion/metaphysics/spirituality, biology, oncology, sociology, ….Incredibly well written. And mesmerizing photography. (I’m a guy, cant help it. but there fare more than that to my personal attraction: sensing the energy fields emanating from there. ) . One could delve even deeper into prehistory, where anthropologists hypothesize ANR/ABF kept our tiny families together (the rewarding treat for dad to return with provisions, rather than seek partners elsewhere), which ensured our species’ survival. Thank you so much for sharing such an enlightening wealth of information!!!!
Thank you so much dear friend! You know I began researching this topic long ago as we have been friends now for over a year, and in many ways part of my journey. Thank you so much for your valuable wisdom, advice, and most of all friendship! And the compliments, indeed there is so much more to those photos than what the eyes see, and what matters most is seen not with the eyes but with the heart! Thanks for noticing. We are definitely energy even if we are not aware of it.
Agree with your hypothesis as in Valerie Robinson’s book and shared by many anthropologists, it is the reason men and women began not just living together, but also why men became “breadwinners” while women stayed at home nursing their children which prevented them from being breadwinners themselves with feeds every few hours…
Thank you for sharing your story! Do you think you will re induce again ?
Like you, I started then life happened. I still have small output so now I am thinking of starting back up because I enjoy it so much ❤
Jae thanks so much for your lovely comment! I have begun to re induce slowly as creatively, it was really impactful on my work to be lactating but also emotionally made me stronger and did feel like a goddess. There are of course drawbacks but my health in terms of body mind spirit was the best it has ever been when I was lactating, but it was making me sleepy. Which being so busy with studies wasn’t helping me at all, and also isn’t great when you are solo and have to depend on a breast pump. They could make them completely silent…I have low noise tolerance XD
These days I am keeping it up by almost daily breast massage/pump sessions to slowly re -induce perhaps when the time is right but it does limit your life a little if you are super active with travel etc. I don’ have a conventional life so it’s a bit of a problem. I’d say don’t let your milk go, but your body remembers…so if you can still keep a small amount it is easier to re induce than from 0.
Love and support your way xxx
