I’ve been pumping about a week now, once nightly 20-25 minutes. I’m getting consistent milk drops on the right for the first 1/3 of the session; 1-2 drops a minute. However, nothing happens on the left. My nipples were/are inverted and, while I’ve succeeded in pulling them out more, the left still protrudes less. I’m assuming there’s more scar tissue on that side.
When you’ve lactated or induced, did one side progress before the other? Did it balance out when you fully let down? Any suggestions on how to help push the left one along?
For context, I do not want to take any supplements or herbs given my current health. I am aware I could pump more frequently but am not in a hurry as my partner is still long distance. My only concern is if the right one swells noticeably with milk while the left does nothing. Thanks for your help!😊
I’m not a medical professional and I don’t know what health issues you have, but I believe any change in your breasts is cause for medical investigation
I didn’t phrase that well. My concern is in the future that one side will become noticeably engorged compared to the other if only one produces. That’s what I’m trying to avoid. I do have an obgyn appointment coming up and will ask the doctor about it as well.
You have what is referred to as a “slacker boob”. You can Google it and remedies. But it’s perfectly normal to have greater production on one side. Because lactation amounts are based on supply and demand, a little more pumping on the slacker side, may resolve the issue.
I breastfed my child for 6 months with extremely inverted nipples that prior to that never came out. My left breast was definitely more slack then my right but the nurse told me that was normal. My right nipple is since fully out and my left was no longer inverted but flat. I have since pierced it to rectify that. With been engorged i never noticed a difference between them and they certainly dont look much different now 11 years later. I wish you every success.. you seem to be making good progress.

Research I’ve done and read confirm Juicy and Efs input. It’s quite common for one breast to respond slower and differently than the other. Myself, personally had fluid from my left days and weeks differently from my right. Not to add humor to my journey through this, I’m just happy to get any fluid response, lol…if my left wants to do more than my right, I’m good with that.
I will mention in addition, that I have not noticed any change or difference in size. Both appear the same size.
