Rose’s Lactation Blog #8

– Update: Rose reviews some breast massage basics and illustrates how to do hand expression.

A Milkmaid’s Tale

– So Kneady Today! –
by Profile Photo Agent Rose

Hello and welcome again to my blog. Today, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of word upon descriptive word to talk about breast massage and hand expression, I have opted to post two videos instead.

And, yes, you will get to hear me speak. This is a first for me – trying to sound intelligent and coherent while hand expressing on camera instead of giving my full attention to the task at hand. Also, given my relatively low milk supply, this was all recorded in one take. You will get to hear my cat’s bell ringing, my dog slurping water, and myself, speaking albeit relatively quietly as I didn’t want to wake the family.

  1. Thank you very much Rose. Showing how to massage a breast and express milk is definitely more effective than using words.
It is just incredible that soaking in a lavender scented bath can increase your milk volume many times that of the first video. How long do you need to stay in the bath for your breasts to produce so much milk?

  2. Thank you, Lee. The blog is intended to be a community conversation and not solely my ramblings.

Have you had any experience hand expressing your former partners? What tips or tricks might you share?

  3. Thank you, Dennis. I am glad you are finding value in my contributions. I am almost at the end of the list of topics that I came up when Michael first approached me. I need to work on more topics. Is there anything that you’d like me to cover that I have not mentioned yet?

    1. So far you have answered more questions than I knew I had. You are very thorough.

Topic wise, I can’t think of anything right off the bat. I did however, think of a question.

Is it safe to assume a partner helping with massage and expression would use the same techniques?

        1. That would be fantastic! Thank you!

I have given my wife many breast massages. Usually only during a full body massage. She says I very well.

She did teach me about the glands in the armpits as well as a lot about communication.

Started massaging her breasts many years ago when she got pregnant. After she miscarried her breasts where always in pain. It took an epic boatload of communication to help her through that. Wish I would have know about these techniques then.

Again, thank you so much for the information.

    2. After you’ve been through topics, Just a suggestion… have you thought of a weekly update about how your week has gone. What has helped and hindered supply, anything new or taken away etc. Anything you’ve read or come across, that you’d like to try or recommend.
      I’m
Sure there is so much more…
Would be lovely to hear about roses week if you were happy to share 🙂

      1. I was thinking to transition more into a weekly journey update as we got nearer to September. Grad school is just around the corner again and I suspect my blogging time will diminish afterwards.

I think I would like to touch on two more topics per se.

        1. Yes please, finding topics covered really helpful and really happy you’ll continue with blogs. I’ll look forward to upload day and your continues journey 🙂
