Having seen plenty of people expressing an interest in chatting/making friends on this site, I had this thought: what if, along side selecting which gender you are looking for, there is another checkbox for “Friends” and the word “Friends” appears on your profile if you select it. You can then elaberate in your “About Me” section as needed. I think it might save some people serious typing space in that section.

I think this is a great suggestion and worth thinking about. So you are suggesting have an extra row which specifies if you are looking to make friends in the community who are interested in chatting with you about shared interests? Brilliant!
Yes, people can then elaberate however they want on the specifics like they do in their quest for ANR partners and/or relationships.
It’s not a bad idea, and something which has been considered before. Unfortunately, a site technical issue is currently preventing this from being implemented. Once this issue is resolved, I will look into this further.

I love the FRIENDS option idea! I would use it now while currently dating someone, as my description includes the info but the search would be more clear for others, if I could change it to friends at this time.
