InactiveI just bought a pound of Goats Rue leaf to make tea and a rum tincture. I tried the capsules in the past and I didn’t have a noticeable difference in production. I recently read that the capsules are not as effective as tea and tinctures, so fingers crossed 🤞, hoping the tea works.
If any of you have made a tincture with vodka, rum, or another liquor have you used it in a mixed drink?
I’m considering making a tincture with rum and using it to make Pina Coladas 🤣
I have brewed tea, it actually didn’t taste bad. However, I think if I made tea out of Timothy hay with would taste similar if not the same 🤔🐄.
I’ve only had one dose of tea, when I drink the next dose I’m going to mix it in with my regular black tea, maybe I won’t feel like a cow drinking it.

InactiveMy wife and I have used goats rue in the past before she had to stop for medical reasons. It is something to get used to but when mixed does work well especially to hide the taste..
Have you tried mixing it with coffee?

InactiveNope, I’ve only had the one dose and I cannot drink coffee. I’d rather mix it with tea or a cocktail.
October 9, 2022 at 3:15 am #196042Goat’s Rue does inhibit platelet aggregation, which can increase bruising or blood thinning disorders. Daily use of this herb should be done under a physician’s instruction, especially if the user has Factor-5 or any blood clotting/thinning related health concerns.
Just saying this as a informative blanket statement for other forum readers, not intending to pin point Elizabeth.

Inactive@treasurechest very true, just like domperidone I did a ton of research before making the decision to try it.

InactiveVery true.. caution is always best.
There’s also fenugreek to mix in with foods
Traditional Medicinals also makes a mother’s milk tea that’s decent and not expensive

InactiveI used goat’s rue to build breast tissue when in the inducing process but have not seen a positive effect after producing and tapered off of it.
October 9, 2022 at 9:36 pm #196352I tried it for months to no avail.

Inactive@juicyboobies Did you use the tincture or capsules?

You are wrong again Rich. Fenugreek is only for when a woman is lactating. It can and does in fact make lactation hard to achieve.
Can we stop the man-splaining when it comes to women’s bodies and health around inducing and lactation, before someone losses an eye 🥸 to a goat milker.October 10, 2022 at 1:26 am #196473Anonymous

InactiveRespectfully, I’m not “man-splaining”, and I resent the implication. What I said was the same information I received from the la leche league. Take what you will from that.
What works for some ladies may not work for others, simple fact.

Inactive@lochmane Le Leche League’s site does not promote the use of Fenugreek, they provide info on it, but they do not promote the use of it. Furthermore, I am not asking about fenugreek, something I’m very knowledgeable about. Nor am I asking about the use of commercially available lactation boosters. Dollar for ounce, all of that stuff is complete garbage. This is not my first rodeo in the indication game. I specifically asked about goats rue and it’s use in making tinctures. I have no interest in info on any other products or herbs.
October 10, 2022 at 6:13 am #196578Fenugreek sucks.
October 10, 2022 at 12:27 pm #196631I used goats rue in capsule form and it did absolutely nothing. I’m definitely interested in trying it as a tea or tincture to see if the outcomes are different.
Recently, I’ve been reading up on tinctures. Many people aren’t mixing them in anything that’s flavor heavy like a mixed drink. Take about a 1-2 ml dropper mixed in water/tea or taken straight by mouth. I picked up Medicinal Herbs A Beginners Guide by Rosemary Gladstar from the library. There is a small section on making tinctures.(Overall it’s a great book) I also reviewed a lot of youtube videos on the use and making of tinctures. Using a different herb, I plan to use an 80 to 100 proof vodka and wait 4-6 weeks. It will definitely be a while before I can discuss the full efficacy of the tincture. Many Etsy shops sell tinctures for those who don’t want to make their own.
