Given the obscurity of people interested in ANR, the thought of a long distance relationship has crossed my mind more than once. I completely understand that ANR works best between two local people, but if both of you are on similar pages in terms of ANR, could you not see if the both of you click in other areas from a distance? Has any one found a partner and had a successful long distance relationship? What tips would you give to someone considering it.

I am currently in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend (partner). If both people are on board with it, it can work. The distance sucks but at least technology allows us to video call each other everyday. The long term goal is for him to move here, but until that happens we take turns traveling to each other. We typically see each other in person about every 1.5 months. Just for perspective, to drive would be 14 hours, a plane ride is about 3 hours plus a layover (no direct flights available). My best advice is to go slow, build the friendship, meet to see if there’s a connection in person, then go from there.

Long distance works as long as there is commitment to the other person, however, if someone is there just for the body, or mostly for that, they will find someone easier and closer to reach. I have had successful long distance relationship that were far more rewarding than physically near, it can work.

Forest11, thanks! What you’re saying makes a lot of sense.
