InactiveMy partner travels for work, often gone for weeks at a time. She’s worried about inducing, then not being able to keep it up while working/traveling.
Question is, if there’s a break, other than a couple day’s expected discomfort, what should we be aware of? Will production stop, then need to be started again? Any concerns there?
Is it that simple or is this a months-longer pursuit that would require daily consistency to be worth it?

InactiveCan she pump while she’s away? At least a couple times a day? If so she’ll be fine. I’ve also heard good things about using a tens unit when suckling/pumping aren’t feasible but I’m not 100% on it.
December 31, 2021 at 2:22 pm #82971Unfortunately, most of use are not with our partner multiple times a week and the upkeep of a milk supply or continuation of inducing falls on the woman.
She would have to remain consistent with whatever technique she is using. For traveling the marmet method or manual pump and a tens machine may be her best option.
Each bathroom trip she can hand express and in the evenings give it her full attention. Or using travel time to pump, I sometimes pump driving in the car. Early morning pump or massage before heading out. The tens are inconspicuous and great if she can tolerate it.I suggest she look process of induction and determine if it meshes with her daily schedule. Once she has that she will be able to modify it for travel.
Induction is not an overnight process (1-2 weeks) and it’s a MONTHS long pursuit. Unless you guys live together or can meet multiple times per week, she will be doing 95% of the work. Settle in and be a support to her if she decides to induce.

InactiveOnce lactation has started the breast depend on supply and demand, a tens unit is not going to provide demand. Hand expressing doing bathroom trips, while taking a shower is a great option the hot water helps with milk flow. Pumping at might and in the morning will also help. Production might be affected the the difference is usually small. Discomfort likely will not be an issue, most women that induce do not produce enough milk to have issues with engorging.

InactiveAnswered my questions, thanks to all three of you. Might have to put it off until I can better support and be there with her.
Cheers
