Do you ever get engorged or have you ever experienced let down and over production of milk after you started lactating by induction? I remember when I had my babies, I used to produce so much that I had to use storage bag and keep many of them in the freezer. I wonder after 14 years, if I start inducing, would I ever get to that point again?

Some of the supplements may help you produce more milk by recreating the levels of prolactin that you would normally have post-partum.

May 20, 2023 at 9:04 pm #282534Usually those who induce do not get to this level. For me personally, the most I ever made by inducing was 2-3 ounces. But every person is different. However, if you mimic the rigorous schedule of feeding a baby with an actual milk supply, you absolutely can create that affect :).

Look at it this way…not everyone is an Olympian from the Olympics. We’re all different at different points in our lives.
Given you were in perfect health 14 years ago and are in the exact same health now as you were then you should be able to produce “similarly” based on the same demand of your milk then now. There will always be minor differences in each lactation because there are different demands.
Natural lactation and induced lactation are two entirely different processes requiring different demands on the mammary system both requiring perfect health and consistent demand.
I gave birth 47 years ago and never breast fed. Currently I’ve had 3 different lactation consultants from 3 different hospitals tell me it wasn’t possible to lactate over the age of 50 if one hadn’t done it after giving birth, lol.
Just because you might have been a Cadillac 14 years ago doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t be a Cadillac again. Enjoy the journey and try not to focus on the destination so much. 😊
