InactiveAny ladies have success with any herbals? Fenugreek dried me up so now im scared to try anything other than Dom which did give me success but we all know the frustration with getting that.
July 24, 2025 at 6:06 pm #611099Hey!
I’m using goats rue tincture along with Liquid Gold herbal supplements by the brand Legendary Milk.
What also helps is not stressing my nipples out. So keeping the suction on my pumps to a comfortable level (level 2-4). The other part is just consistency!
I hope this helps a little bit ♥️✨

InactiveThank you, I do get a bit aggressive with having the pump high. I will try your advice. I appreciate it.
July 24, 2025 at 7:49 pm #611132I bought previous partners Goat’s Rue root and Dom, resulting in a beautiful tsunami amount of milk.
(In recent months I’ve read testimonials that Moringa too results in producing an increased supply.)Also I would give massages, made sure they were well hydrated, and made sure they got good rest. Good sleep, good supply. A good suckler shouldn’t just bring a mouth to the table… my opinion.
Wishing you success
@pillowtalk .July 25, 2025 at 2:22 pm #611445These herbs are commonly used to help stimulate milk production. They are best taken consistently, often in teas, tinctures, or capsules:
1. Fenugreek
• One of the most widely used and effective herbs.
• Dose: 1500–2000 mg, 3x/day (capsules) or 3 cups/day of tea.
• Note: May cause maple syrup body odor. Avoid if you have diabetes or thyroid issues.2. Blessed Thistle
• Often paired with Fenugreek for synergistic effect.
• Dose: 3 capsules, 3x/day or 2–3 cups of tea daily.3. Goat’s Rue
• Believed to help develop breast tissue in non-pregnant women.
• Dose: Follow label for tincture/capsules; tea form available too.4. Fennel Seed
• Mild estrogenic effect that supports milk production.
• Can be taken as tea or added to food.5. Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)
• Ayurvedic herb that supports female reproductive hormones and lactation.
• Often in powder or capsule form.6. Alfalfa
• Nutritive herb often used in combo blends for lactation.
• Great as tea or supplement.⸻
💞 Essential Stimulus: Nipple Stimulation or Suckling
Milk production is hormone-driven — primarily by prolactin (stimulates milk) and oxytocin (helps with milk letdown). These hormones increase with:
✔️ Regular Nipple Stimulation
• 8–12 sessions per day (mimicking baby feeding)
• Manual massage, electric breast pump (hospital grade best), or partner suckling✔️ Breast Pump Protocol
• 15–20 minutes each breast, every 2–3 hours
• Start even if no milk comes — consistency is key to “trick” the body⸻
🥗 Supportive Habits
✅ Hydration
• Aim for 2.5–3 liters of water/day.✅ Nutrition
• Include oats, healthy fats (avocado, nuts), leafy greens, and whole grains.
• Avoid restrictive dieting.✅ Warm Compresses & Breast Massage
• Stimulates blood flow and promotes comfort.⸻
Timeline: What to Expect
• Weeks 1–2: Prolactin may begin to rise with regular stimulation.
• Weeks 3–5: Small drops of milk or “witch’s milk” may appear.
• Weeks 6–8+: With continued herbs and suckling/stimulation, milk volume often increases significantly.
• Milk will first be clear, then change to white with more fat content as supply builds.⸻
Optional Add-ons (Still Natural)
• Lecithin: Helps prevent clogged ducts.
• Moringa leaf: Boosts prolactin levels.July 25, 2025 at 4:07 pm #611469Goats rue and alfalfa were my go to for a delayed process (no in a hurry, but wanted drops) to stay wet. As far as herbs goes. Fenugreek always dried me up so I stayed away from it untill the day before I nursed just so the flavor changed.
Dom has been my only consistent med that works everytime.
And yes it’s frustrating waiting 3 months to get it, if at all..
July 25, 2025 at 4:59 pm #611483@joechill: Do you remember the dose that your ex partners took?
July 25, 2025 at 5:06 pm #611484This is a great list @midnighbear81. The only thing that I would add is that when you are starting to induce, please take individual herbs for a week to two weeks so that you can assess if it is helping your supply. This would let you know really quickly what you should avoid. In my case, Moringa dries me up, but Fenugreek is ok.
Remember that you are and will always be an N=1 experiment.
One of the people I know, fenugreek worked great for her the first time around but dried her up the second time around. Our hormonal milieu is constantly shifting.
So, my approach is to always determine what works by taking singleton supplements. Once you are armed with the knowledge, you can go with blended pills like Legendairy or herbal lactation tea mixes.
There is another food that is not mentioned on MA’s list that worked wonders for me and that is Brewer’s Yeast. My boobs flat out love it.
July 25, 2025 at 5:24 pm #611488@roseknows Unfortunately I don’t remember the dose. I’m so sorry.

InactiveThank you all so much!!! I am also struggling with pumping consistently. Particularly with is it better to pump even if its not consistent or is it useless unless it can be on schedule and consistent?
July 28, 2025 at 3:45 pm #612682@AgentRose Some beer without alcohol and some porridge are perfect about lactation.
August 2, 2025 at 2:34 pm #614583I didn’t like Fenugreek at all, but I have had great success eating a healthy diet with plenty of folates (leafy greens) and using Motherlove’s Goats Rue and Moringa (3 times a day, 2 capsules), see my latest article below and note that I offer coaching and private consultations in this area and others.
