Good call Micheal. 👍🏻 It sometimes felt like a small percentage of users were “friend” collectors and it seemed like a popularity contest. I would even support removing the “popular” user link on the homepage.
It was quite useful to see how many friends someone has…
There are people on here with 100+ friends so no doubt they are just here to waste time.
Maybe it would be good to still see how many friends a person has, just to get some idea of their popularity or viewpoint. Some people have been on here for a year or two, yet only made a few serious friends; others can quickly build up a few dozen, or even a hundred or more over time. Even if you no longer see who those friends are, at least you’ll know why a person may sometimes be a little slow in replying to your own messages – you’re far from the only fish in their pond!
Should be private.
Now no one can see how few friends I have 🙂
Get rid of it! 🥰
I don’t like it honestly. Have been really disturbed lately over an incidenct when my friend’s list was used to contact me. Felt extremely stalkerish. Might not have been the intention, but that’s how it came off.
I think there is no harm in making the friend’s list invisible to visitors. In fact it would prevent members from using a friend list to bombard another member’s friends with friend requests or requests for hookups that might not be welcome.
UPDATE ….
– Feedback from users shows lots of people would prefer their Friends List to be private, but some don’t.
– Some users find it helpful to be able to see someone’s friends list, helps them gauge the person a bit better etc.
– The minor security issue stemming from friends lists being visible has now been solved by other means.
– So, with that in mind, I am setting things back to the “status quo” for this site ie. friends lists are visible.
– At some point I will add an option for individual users to select if their Friends List is visible to others or not. That should keep everyone happy.
