    Hi everyone.

I really want to meet someone who can help bring me milk. I was pregnant 15 years ago but it didn’t go to term so only lactated for a week or so. I am more than happy to dry feed but what can I do to start bringing on milk on my own? Sorry if this is an odd question but I would love to breastfeed so any advice to a newbie would be great. Thank you all

It’s not an odd question at all Jay. Many women ask this when seeking to induce milk.

The key is to ‘wake up’ your breasts to start producing milk, and that requires regular stimulation over time. Some people choose a breast pump, or simply massage their breasts with their hands. A few women can even suckle their own breasts, but overall the best technique is to have a willing partner latch on and suckle away.

It’s important to stimulate regularly, but not for too long at a time, since continued stimulation doesn’t have any effect and can actually prove painful. And it’s quite a commitment to induce – you’d need to stimulate once every 4 hours, including once during the night, for around 15-30 minutes each time. But if you really want to breastfeed, the end result will be worth it.

Jay, that is not at all odd. I’m a new member here, but have found everyone kind and helpful. I second everything that Rob mentioned above. Regular stimulation will be key to milk production. Your body will get into a regular rhythm. There are many ways to stimulate- light caresses, gentle expression to stimulate suckling, breast pumping, and using a TENS unit. Consistency is key. Please feel free to send me a friend request if you like. No pressure either way. It would simplify messaging. Good luck either way 💗
